Description: The Y-Wing fighter served the Rebel Alliance throughout its history, being firstly the only starfighter available, then later as a tough and reliable fighter/bomber. However as the Rebellion began its change into the New Republic, they needed a newer vessel to stand up to the latest enemy vessels coming off the production lines, so design was started by Koensayr on a more advanced version of this venerable fighter. The BTL-T4 is the result of this, with additional engine modules the Advanced Y-Wing is faster and more manueverable than its predecessor, and has extra energy which allows heavier weapons to be mounted aboard. Mainly the design has stayed the same, with almost every area being improved, heavier hull plating, more powerful shields, longer ranged sensors, all being parts of a complete upgrade to the fighter. This means that although pilots of older Y-Wings can feel comfortable straight away and have no problems adapting to the new fighter, they are instantaneously able to take advantage of the vessel and become once more a match for the latest fighters in the galaxy. The Advanced Y-Wing is being purchased in small numbers by the New Republic, but their need for every fighter means that these newer vessels are serving side by side with their older brothers and the change over to the new design is being slow indeed.
