Description: Tava Ren was a Force-sensitive human female who led the Knights of Ren sometime after Kylo Ren left the group to join the First Order.

Following the death of Snoke and the First Order's victory at Crait, she attempted to bring the new Supreme Leader Kylo Ren back into the Knights. However, after a brief duel, her efforts failed.

Biography
Working as an enforcer
Sometime between 28 ABY and 34 ABY, a human woman worked as an enforcer for the gang leader Bedat, occasionally carrying out assassinations on his behalf. Having previously studied the dark side of the Force, she recognized the legendary Knights of Ren when they were also employed by Bedat.

After the Knights botched a job, killing the wrong target, they were captured by Bedat, who planned to execute them as a demonstration of strength. The woman considered this a waste and freed the Knights on the condition that she be allowed to join their ranks.

The Knights accepted her offer, but only on the condition that she adhere to their code. Membership in the Knights of Ren was earned through a ritual sacrifice known as "a good death," in which the prospective member had to kill a "worthy target." Though uncertain whether Bedat and his associates met the criteria, the woman eliminated them. With the ritual complete, she assumed leadership of the Knights.

As a Knight of Ren
In 34 ABY, on the frigid Mid Rim planet Vandor, Tava Ren led the Knights during a raid on a vault guarded by a group of monks. Believing the security to be minimal, the Knights defeated the monks, and Tava attempted to force Prior Baius to open the vault. The heist was disrupted when unexpected reinforcements arrived. Although she used a personal energy shield, Tava found herself overwhelmed by the monks, who were armed with electro swords, and quickly realized her Knights had retreated without her.

As Tava retreated toward the Night Buzzard, a modified Oubliette-class transport in use by the Knights since at least the reign of the Galactic Empire, Kuruk questioned whether their leader had survived, with Vicrul saying that her ambition was going to get them all killed. Tava managed to reach the transport and regroup with the Knights as they prepared to flee. Upon rejoining them, she expressed her disappointment and threatened to their lives, questioning what had become of the Knights.

Cardo then told Tava about their previous leader, the fallen Jedi Kylo Ren, and recounted the Knights' betrayal by Snoke, explaining that they had been on the run ever since. After hearing their story, Tava declared that the Knights were broken and vowed to fix the organization herself.

Duel of the Rens
On Tava's command, the Night Buzzard approached First Order Supreme Leader Kylo Ren's flagship, the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer Finalizer, transmitting a tightband communications code previously used exclusively by Snoke. While in conversation with General Armitage Hux, Kylo was notified of the Night Buzzard's arrival by a First Order officer. He authorized its landing and met the vessel in person, with stormtroopers training their blaster rifles on the opening starship. Upon disembarking, Tava revealed herself. When Kylo demanded her identity, Tava declared that she was a Knight of Ren and submitted herself to the Supreme Leader's service.

Kylo ignited his lightsaber and attempted to strike Tava down. She quickly ignited her own lightsaber, initiating a fierce duel in the Star Destroyer's hangar. Incurious about Tava, Kylo deflected her attempts at conversation but denied nearby stormtroopers from intervening, wanting to deal with the woman himself. He asserted that the Knights of Ren meant nothing to him before disarming Tava and pinning her neck between both lightsabers.

Uneasy Company
Tava pleaded that she was the only one with whom Kylo could discuss the "Shadow." Intrigued, Kylo spared her life, mocking her by reminding her how easy his victory had been. At her request for food, the the two warriors moved to a private dining chamber aboard the Finalizer. During their meal, Kylo asked about the whereabouts of the remaining Knights of Ren. Tava responded that while they were still active, they had no desire to meet him.

Kylo was surprised that the Knights had survived his abandonment and questioned how Tava had assumed leadership. She explained that she had valued them as a prize, unlike Kylo, who had treated them like garbage. Tava reminded him of her status as a Ren and recounted her own history, including her first encounter with the Knights of Ren. Dissatisfied, Kylo pressed her for the true reason behind her visit. Tava admitted that her offer of service had been a lie and that she had initially intended to kill him.

Having touched Kylo's mind briefly with the Force, Tava claimed to see through his facade. She asserted that he was inherently a "free" and "wild" man, ill-suited to the imposing and restrictive station of Supreme Leader. Despite Kylo's warning to be careful, Tava persisted, proposing that the Knights of Ren could offer him freedom from the life he had built for himself within the First Order. She leaned over the table toward Kylo, asking him who he wanted to be, and kissed him. Shocked, Kylo recoiled and ordered the Finalizer's security forces to execute her.

Convinced of her earlier assessment, Tava reclaimed her lightsaber and fled, battling her way through corridors filled with stormtroopers. She eventually reached the Night Buzzard and escaped from the Finalizer's hangar. On the bridge, General Hux urged Kylo to command the destruction of her ship, but Kylo remained silent, allowing Tava to escape unharmed.

Following the confrontation, Kylo Ren journeyed to a vault underneath Fortress Vader on the volcanic world Mustafar, where he was reminded of Tava by a Force vision of his younger self.

A new droid threat
Later, between 34 ABY and 35 ABY, Tava returned to Kylo Ren and the First Order seeking help from a droid threat.

Personality and traits
Tava Ren was a human woman with long red hair, green eyes, and tan skin. During the raid on Vandor, the Knights of Ren criticized her for her ambition and acting on faulty intelligence, to which she replied that they should never abandon their leader. She naively believed she could convince Kylo Ren to leave the First Order and return to the Knights. She bore glowing, stylized Aurebesh markings on her neck that spelled "REN," mirroring the same markings on the helmet of the groups former leader, a human known simply as Ren.

Powers and abilities
Tava Ren was skilled with a blaster as an assassin. As a leader of the Knights of Ren, Tava Ren considered herself more powerful than the other members, believing herself able to kill them all. Highly skilled in lightsaber combat, she was capable of briefly dueling Kylo Ren and deflecting blaster bolts with her lightsaber. Having studied the dark side of the Force, she was able to use the Force to pull her ship, the Night Buzzard, into a group of First Order stormtroopers. Despite her strength, she was no match for Kylo Ren, who found defeating her effortless.

Equipment
As one of Bedat's enforcers, Tava used a DLT-19x sniper rifle. As the leader of the Knights of Ren, Tava wielded a red-bladed lightsaber with a black hilt. She wore a horned helmet that left her long red hair exposed, along with a black tunic, shoulder and forearm armor, and a short cape. During combat, she had a small device that could activate a red energy shield which protected her from attacks.
